    Posted: 18 Dec 2009 at 9:24am
I have daily sales information

day/month/year    Sales Amount

Want to create a report that has

Group One         Year 2008 Sum   Year 2009 Sum

Then drill down to
                          Year 2008          Year 2009
Jan
Feb
Mar
etc

Then drill down to weeks etc.

My trouble is gettting Crystal 10 to get years in column format, then drill down in column format to months. Cross tabs doesn't allow drill down and I can't get the month in column format with cross tabs either.

There must be a simple solution, even if there is not. I am spinning my wheels.

Thanks in advance

There is no simple solution I know of.

How are you defining "then drill down to weeks, etc."?
Week 1= Jan 1-6, week 2 = jan 7-13?
What about leap years?

In crystal reports there is the formula

Sum ({sales.amount},{date},"weekly") function - same concept for year and monthly.

I would be satisfied with starting with annual then drilling down to monthly.

Thanks

I could be wrong but I recommend you rethink your approach here.
There are some fundamental issues you have going on that just won't work.
You want to drill down. Drilling down is drilling into grouped data but you are not really grouping data you are just showing values (which could be based on groups).
Also the per week function is a Sunday to Saturday. If you are also grouping by Month and year at a higher level it will break up your weeks. So as you try to compare weeks from year to year or month to month you are giving out odd information as the Sun-Sat alters year to year so your comparisons are off.
Is this making sense?
