Topic: Supress optional columns Posted: 05 Aug 2015 at 10:56pm
I need to show/delete multiple columns of an invoice depending on the options the user select before displaying the report . I need to eliminate them, not hide them, because I do not want the blank is displayed.
I appreciate any help. Thanks.

There is no way of eliminating a field on a report. Depending of what version you have, you may be able to dynamically adjust the x position of the field (Works in Crystal 2011). Still could be a complicated formula.

I will second kevlray...Crystal needs the schema of the data to be the same. You can dynamically reposition and/or hide the columns in CR XI and beyond.
I once wrote a report where all columns were dynamically displayed and ordered. I don't recall it being overly complex, it was a bit tedious for a while.
The biggest caveat is that in movign the columns, the values are in twips which are 1440 to the inch, so adding 1 to the x position basically doesn't move the control at all.
I used a function in the report to move the columns around. Hiding and showing are pretty easy and depending on what the various parameters are could go a long way in the solution.
Too many options will make for a complex report, though anything is possible
