    Posted: 26 Sep 2013 at 8:30am
I am trying to Save a report to our BOE server using the Save As [Enterprise] option of Crystal Reports Developer 2011. This is a new implementation [server and clients] so we have definitely not ironed out all of the configuration details.

I have confirmed that I can log on to the server Central Mgmt Console.

When I attempt the Save As, I am specifying the same server/logon credentials in the [Log On to BusinessObjects Enterprsie] dialog that I use to get in via CMC, however; I receive the following error when I click OK.

Internal error: an unknown exception has occurred.
As tyou can see, the message is not very helpful.

I am assuming that something is not configured properly or not running on the server but I am not sure where to look.

I appreciate any assistance that can be provided.

Regards,
Bill

Which version of BusinessObjects/Crystal Reports Server are you trying to connect to? Crystal 2011 will only connect to BO 4.0/CRS 2011.

Ok, you're on BO 4.1. I just verified from my laptop that I'm able to connect to 4.1 from Crystal 2011 - I'm on SP7 of CR2011. If you go to Help>>About in Crystal, which version are you running?

The short-cut name is Crystal Reports 2011.
When I select Help-About, I get the following:
SAP BusinessObjects
CR Developer
Version 14.0.4.738 RTM
Product Type: Full

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question: How did you determine BO 4.1 from what I sent?

You're on SP4, which came out over a year ago. I would download and install the SP7 update from the Service Marketplace. SP 7 is fairly recent and came out at about the same time as BO 4.1.

I got 4.1 from the "14.1..." in the version. 4.0 is 14.0..., 3.1 is 12.1...

OK.
I found SP7. Sorry to pester you. Everything on their site is SAP or Business-This or that and  very confusing. I found it via the [My Company's Software] option.

I downloaded and installed SP7.

Crystal Reports 2011 --> [Version 14.0.7.1147 RTM]

Same error trying to execute Save-As ENTERPRISE from CR2011.

Another question:
I am thinking this is a configuration issue on the server. Do you know what server/listening port needs to be specified in the Log on to BusinessObjects Enterprise dialog in the [Server] field when performing a Save As Enterprise from Crystal 2011? Should this match what I use when signing on to CMC [BO_SERVERNAME:6400]

Yes, this should match what you use for the CMC. However, 6400 is the default port, so you shouldn't need it in either place. But you can try and see if that will work for you.

Thanks Dell. I can get in to CMS [with or without the 6400 port specified]but still get Internal Error: Unknown exception when I attempt to perform a Save-As [Enterprise] to my server when saving a report from Crystal Reports 2011.

At this point you'll probably have to open a support case with SAP on this. I'm not sure what the issue might be.
