We deliver our CR XI reports via a BOE XI R2 server to our users. Currently, the max the server can be licensed for is 20 concurrent users. We would like to make a case that we can serve an audience of 2,000 users, most of whom will all want to run an on-demand report sometime each Monday morning. Having a potential audience of 2,000 hitting a server with maximum 20 concurrent users is our concern -- and we have to design for that potential audience, even if it never happens.
We have tried to optimize our server for a large user base by compressing the default session timeout value down from the default of 20 minutes to 5 minutes. We also try to optimize the reports so that they run as quickly as possible so they don't take any longer than necessary. Are there any other tweaks we can make on the server to optimize the 20 concurrent user license for a larger audience?
We have encouraged the use of scheduled reports that get e-mailed or copied to the users to keep the concurrent licenses available, but I think in this situation we're going to have to demonstrate we're ready for "live" hits.
Thanks,
Brad
