     Posted: 04 Nov 2009 at 8:17pm

Scenario:

- We use a financial package that uses CR Viewer v9 (Seagate now BO, I guess)
- Parameters are always pre-filled with 1st entry of pre-defined value list and date parameters always default to current date. Simple and easy to users !
- We are now upgrading to new version of package which includes new CR Viewer v11

Issue:
- Parameters window doesn't show default values and user has to pick individual values from value list.
- Date parameters don't show any dates at all and user has to click on calendar and pick a date.
- many of our reports behavior is based on dates; something like (if parameter date is the same as current date: do this otherwise do that)

Question:
- Is this the way it is supposed to work or is there something I am missing ?

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Yes, in CR XI, the parameter screen is blank, but since it is part of a package, the vendor might have been populating the parameters (never used CR 9), or that might have been how the parameters were displayed.  The reports, one would hope, still run the same, just the user has to do more entering.

Hi there,

From my viewpoint it is a step back in functionality.
Either way, thank you very much for your input.

Hey LuisSantos

If you want you can just code out the date parameter.

2 possebilities i see:
1:  you compleet code out the date parameter and exchange it with the currentdate value in CR  this will make it more difficult if pll do want to chack other dates so you could also do 2

2: keep the date parameter field empty and don't put it as requiered
then make a shared datevar dateVAR := currentdate
then a formula that sais

IF dateparameter = "" then dateVAR else dateparameter

This way pll can leave it empty for current date or fill somthing in.
The same can be done for other default value's ofcourse

Hope it helps !!
