Hello Folks,
                    I have this requirement where i need to delete the existing parameters in the report and include them in the Record Selection Formula. ANd also i have some reports where i have parameters in a subreport which are linked from a main report parameters.How do we proceed in these both situations. Do we need to create a formula and include in the selection criteria or anything else. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

for a subreport, you can change the links.  If you are moving a parameter into the filtering section, and the value is variable (user entered) you still need the parameter, so I am a bit confused on what exactly you need to do.

Am sorry i think i was not clear in the previous post. I mean to say that i hav to delete the parameters from the report and include the logic(not the parameters) in the record selection to get the data for all clients and all groups.

Does that mean that the problem will be solved if i delete the below selection criteria which has parameters in it? Is that all i need to do

 Main report Record Selection criteria is as follows

{HCSC_CASES_REPORTS.CLIENT_CODE} = trim({?Client Code}) and
{HCSC_CASES_REPORTS.BRANCH_GRP_CODE} = trim({?Account}) and
(if {?WorkComp} = 'ALL' then {HCSC_CASES_REPORTS.WORKCOMP} = {HCSC_CASES_REPORTS.WORKCOMP}
else {HCSC_CASES_REPORTS.WORKCOMP} = trim({?WorkComp}))
and
(if {?Incident Type} = 'ALL' then {HCSC_CASES_REPORTS.INCIDENT_TYPE} = {HCSC_CASES_REPORTS.INCIDENT_TYPE}
else {HCSC_CASES_REPORTS.INCIDENT_TYPE} in {?Incident Type})

 and the Main rpt contains 4 parameters as clientcode, workcomp,incident type and account and also we have subreport linking based on the 2 of these parameters i.e clientcode and account.
My requirement is to get rid of all these parameters(user doesnt want to see these parameters)

Thanks for getting bak.

just replace the {?xxx} with the values that you want.  When they are all replaced, go to the parameter part of the report, and delete them.

Well i have cleared the reports which dont have any subreports inside in it. But one report is giving me trouble, It has 3 subreports in it and i have replaced each and every place where it has the "?start" and "?End". The real problem is When i go to the Field Explorer and tried to delete the " ?start" and "?End" parameters i coudnt find a Delete Option. Its pretty wierd coz those parameters also doesnt have the Green mark checked which means those are not being used in the report.

The only thing i figured out is that only when i hit the refresh button  both these parameters reappear.
Any idea why this happening.

Thanks for getting bak

try doing a search for them.  hightlight one, right click, 'Find in Formulas'.  Are they parameters that link to the main report?

Otherwise, don't really know. I don't use subreports much...they have their place, but usually aren't needed.
