Hi - can anyone advise how to switch-off the read-only option in Crystal Reports X? I'm in the process of upgrading a number of existing reports and instead of reinventing the wheel am trying to amend existing but even when saving in a different location and with a different file name the read-only option still kicks-in. Can't see it as a toggle option anywhere!

have you tried copying the report then setting the readonly off and then editing the report, or just changing the readonly to false before editting?

Yes, Crystal has weird behavior with the read only.

Thanks for this but I've already had a look there. The bizarre thing is that either in Report Options and Section Experts (where a read-only toggle is given) they are all off! Even a copy of the same report saved in a different directory still returns the same message i.e. the report is read only!

Those have nothing to do with the read only property...or at least the only one that I know of.  The read only is based on the report definition file having its property set to read only...in explorer right click and remove the checkmark from read only.

What is odd, is that a report that is set to read only a) displays a warning that the report cannot be saved and b) allows you to save in a new location.  I don't know of any other settings that would mimic Read Only.
