Hi again!

Alright, i'm using the summary expert to create a
maximum of the encounter dates. then putting the field that i'm actually
evaluating for the report in that group footer to display it for each group.

Now i want to only show values that for that maximum date
that are greater than 5% (the evaluated values are %ages)

Using the select expert will drop the true maximum date and go to the maximum date where the value is greater than 5. So that's out.

Suppressing the rest is kinda funky because if they have a value in a past date that was greater than 5 it doesn't suppress it.

I'm trying to think of a way perhaps make a

shared numbervar x;

while GroupName ({person_encounter.enc_timestamp}, "by minute") = Maximum ({person_encounter.enc_timestamp}, {@PersonName})
do
    x := {@string to int}

i know the coding's completely wrong... i've never really made a whiledo or dowhile loop... but seems like the place to use one..... if anyone could help THANK YOU!

Having a little trouble following you on this one... as a thought can you first use the select statment on the maxdate then suppress the item that is left over based on your percentage criteria?

Basically what i was trying to do before is this;

Group1: department
      Group2: Persons
                Group3: Encounters_timestamp
Details: There problem.... and it's value
      GF2: Count of enc_timestamp, the Maximum of those timestamps.

What i need is to get a valid value for that true maximum timestamp.
I've tried selecting the value > 5 but doing so will ignore me wanting the maximum timestamp (the true last date) and give me the Maximum timestamp that they had a valud > 5.

Does that clear it up a little bit?

in your GF2 are you trying to get a Count of emc_timestamp where the value associated to each is >5 and the max timestamp regardless of the percentage?
If so you can use a running total with a formual as the evaluate where the one field is > 5 and then use the max function to get the max date regardless of the % value.
Am I even close to what you want here?

No the count that's in GF2 is because i'm making a report of persons with
more than 2 encounters. that's the purpose of that count.

I tried before was allowing the value to be any,
wrote an formula for:
shared numbervar x;

if value > 5 then
       x := x + 1
else
       x := 0

suppressing all that is = 0.

the problem with his was that it would take the details aswell even though
the value was no longer in the details field there's values that it was evaluating for each one of the enc_timestamps.
so even if the max_enc_timestamp had a value < 5 if there was a previous
value >5 it would not suppress it.
