If you're not using a file-based database such as FoxPro or Access, there are a couple of things that
may help:
- In Report Options, turn on Use Indexes or Server for Speed and Perform Grouping on Server. (Turn this on for all new reports on the Database tab of the Options menu item.)
- Avoid using formulas that contain Crystal functions to sort, group, or filter data. These will cause most of the work to be done on the workstation that's running the report instead of on the database. With a filter of this type, many more records than actually appear on the report will be downloaded to Crystal for processing because Crystal will do the processing.
