Hello Folks,

I am working on a project where our software will be printing checks with "check stubs".  Some of our customers will be using checks that have the check numbers already on them, others will not.  Since some of the Check Stubs may span across multiple pages, we're trying to figure out the best way to keep track of the check numbers that were used during a print run.

The easy way I thought of was to find out from Crystal Reports how many pages were used for each check/check stub.  Our Crystal Reports person said she wasn't sure how to get information from Crystal Reports.

Does this capability, or anything like it, exist in Crystal Reports?  Is there a better way to solve the "multi-page" check stub issue?  I'm wondering if there's some standard way this is handled that I'm not thinking of.

Thanks,

Quincunx

Where are your check numbers coming from?  A Distinct Count of the check numbers would give you your answer.

When performing a check run, the user enters the starting check number.  We need to keep track of which check numbers are used for our print runs; whether we print the numbers or not ("not" meaning the check numbers are already on the checks).

Ok,  you could try something like this:

Create a report footer that will print on a separate page.  This page will contain information about what check numbers were used.  I would put in it the print date, the starting check number parameter and whatever formula you're using to calculate the check number - because this is the report footer, this should be the last check number that was used (you may have to subtract 1 from it to get the right value - you'll just have to play with it.)  You could also subtract the starting check number from the ending check number in order to get the number of checks printed.
