I have a couple of issues related to the use of Charts in Crystal Reports 2008.

First, is anyone aware of the ability to create "Bullet" or "Thermometer" type charts in Crystal?  Would solve a lot of issues for me.

Second, is anyone aware of a way to invert the scale on a Gauge Chart so that the largest numbers are on the left and the smallest on the right?
In other words, a Gauge chart appears to display clockwise in ascending order 0-100.  I need the Gauge chart to display clockwise in descending order 100-0.  Is this possible?  What's the trick to make it work?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

There are no bullet or thermometer charts available in Crystal - not even in Crystal 2011.  However, there is a way to simulate them.  If you are licensed for Xcelsius and don't mind including Flash objects in your report, you can embed and Xcelsius thermometer and set it to read data from the report.

I haven't been able to find a way to change the order on the guage chart.  This isn't available in Crystal 2011 either.

Dell,
Thank you for the reply.

I'll take a look at Xcelsius.

Do you know if there is any way to get to the "scale" of the gauge?  I've tried to use the Chart Expert > Axes Tab> Data Values > Data Axis value Min/Max range, but it won't let me put in a Min 1/Max 0 value set.

So here's what I did to resolve my issue with the Gauge Chart
  1. Created a new formula field to make my values appear negative
  2. Chart Expert
    1. Chart Type: Gauge
    2. Data: Show Values - new formula field of negative values
    3. Axes: Data axis - Range Min -1.0 / Max 0.0
  3. Chart Options
    1. Quality Bands -
      1. Band 1: Min/Max -1/-0.7
      2. Band 2: Min/Max -0.7/-0.3
      3. Band 3: Min/Max -0.3/0
    2. Axes - Unchecked Show Data Axes
  4. On Chart, added text objects to represent positive value of Data Axes values

Of my three gauge charts I had to do, thankfully only one had to be presented in this fashion.

If anyone finds a way to manipulate the scale, please let me know.

Thanks,
