Hello,
Is there anyway to have a dynamic parameter field description be populated from multiple fields? or to have a multi lvl dynamic parameter field that does not clear the final selections when you choose a different top lvl?

I am not sure what you are trying to ultimately accomplish here but you can use a command/view/stored proc as the sorce for a dynamic param (cascading or not)

Thanks for the reply. Could you point me in the direction of what you suggested? i am new to crystal and unfamiliar with what you are referring to.

What i am trying to accomplish is this.
I have a report that prints the attendance sheet for multiple classes. But i would like the user to be able to choose what classes are selected. The selection or (value field) is a numeric number that the end user would not know. so the description field i would like to be "Location- Class type - Class Number" (all three different fields. SO idealing the dropdown would say:

ClassID - "Location- Class type - Class Number"
example: 62 - "Building 4 - Economics - 3"

What would be even better would be able to do cascading selection so they can choose
location
Type
Number
add the class,
and then choose a different location again.

for option one you would have to make a source (a crystal command or its equivalent like sql stored procedure or view) and in that source make one field that unites the 3 text fields together ito one long string that wold be your source in a dynamic param 9see below)

for the second option add your tables and link them in crystal
That gets your overall data set
add a parameter in the field explorer
make it Dynamic
under value coumn add 'Type' field
click in the parameters column and add a param name
under the value colum (under the 'type' row) add the number field
name it
repeat for class field

in your select expert you can use all 3 params to limit the data in the report.
when a user refreshes the report they can select new param options but I think the last values remain until altered.
If a user cahnges an upper level option it will wipe the lowere level options if they are not part of the correct cascading in the data set
