Quote dpant Replybullet Topic: Pages after groups
     Posted: 22 Mar 2012 at 12:49am
I have the following groups
              values    a   b   c
Group1    sum       a   b   c
Group2    sum       a   b   c
Group3    sum       a   b   c
Group4    sum       a   b   c

I want to change page after the sum of group 1, but in the last member of group1 i don't want to change page, but to display also the sum of Group2. This happens also in group 2 (i don't want to change page in the last Group 2 of group 3, but to display sum of group  3 in the same page, etc

in real facts group 1 is the seller, group 2 is the supervisor who has many sellers, group 3 is the local office, and group 4 is the head office.

Thank you in advance,

i'm confused...do you want to force a page break or not?

it sounds like you do, but then you say you don't.

How do you change page after sum of group 1, but not for the last member?

Sorry to confuse you. Let's say that i want to have a page break then the seller (group 1) changes, but for the last seller of each coordinator (group 2), i don't want to page break. In some reports (because are many of them like this one, i have managed to do this, by examining the groupinglevel(group2 key) in the tab 'new page after' but i'm not sure how this works, and in some oh these reports there are also one or two more groups (products), before the one i examine , so the groupinglevel(group2 key) does not work.

ok, I think understand.
It sounds like you normally have a page break for each group 2, but for the last entry for each group 1, you don't want to page break for group 2.

If this is the case, I'm sorry, but I can't think of a simple way to accomplish this.

What I would probably do is write a stored proc that retrieves the information, then sorts it by the various groupings, just like the report would, and finally, I would add a flag to the output that would indicate the last group for each level (if desired).

then you can code the report to respond to the flags and suppress the page breaking by using the x-2 button in section expert for the group header.

At least that is the tact I would persue.
