I'm writing a report but need to come up with a formula to show the txt field this is a JD Edwards report and have 2 tables

Table 1

F4211 = SDCARS(NUMBER) <-Carrier Number
F0101= AN8 (Addres Book ID Number) and also ALPH(being the description of the number)

So What I want to is when SDCARS=AN8 then show ALPH being the description of carrier I tried

if {F4211.SDCARS} = {F0101.ABAN8}
then {F0101.ABALPH}

But not working just shows blank.

did you join the tables on {F4211.SDCARS} = {F0101.ABAN8} ?

Yes but in f4211 there is also a field sdan8 so when i put the alpha of f40101 it outputs the alpha for an8 in f4211 thus the need for a formula

if you are joining on the fields then it is not needed in any formula as it is redundant to the join...and the {F0101.ABALPH} will be based on that join.
I still do not understand your set up, just pointing out that you cannot really handle condtional joins in the select expert or a crystal formula. these options do not change your data.
If you are having a join issue because of data type mismatch you can handle that in a command by converting from the type in one table and joining that way.
