Is there anyway to supress a section based on the export format?

Customers can view our reports in either PDF or RPT format. On demand subreports don't work in PDF format (i know there are workarounds but these are the cumbersome...).

So what i want to achieve is the following:

if (output format == pdf)
then supress 'section d' = true
else false

Since CR reports are generated on the fly i thought that it might be possible?
