I am trying to write a report on a database containing a field of multiple values which are assigned a date. 
(example:  client actions by date) 
 How do I display "x" values(actions) with most current date excluding any "y" or '"z" values(actions) which have a date > the most current "x" value?    The max date is showing the max date for any action in this field.  I want to the specific "x" value on the report for each record that matches that criteria and I am going to sort it by the counselor who logged it.   Please help.

Please show how your data is set up.  What are the fields?  What is the format of the field that contains multiple values?  What type of database are you connecting to?

This might make more sense:  Display client IDs which have P1,P2,P4 or P5 values in Client Action Log by the action with the most current date but exclude any records which contain an action beginning with D or A with an action date > the most current P1,P2,P4,P5 action date.

I used the Maximum date function to find the record for actions: P1, P2, P4 or P5 with the most current date and placed it within my group (by Action) on the report.  However, I cannot seem to figure out how to exclude those records which have a D or A and an action date > the most current P dates on my report.
