Help would be very much appreciated ... we support a legacy application which uses Crystal Reports 10 and a SQL 2005 DB communicating through an ODBC source.  Under Windows 7 (both 32 and 64 bit) any Crystal Reports we run generate the message -2147467259 - [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.

Can I buy an updated version of Crystal Reports, and open/save them in the new format?  Is there a way to update the run-time version of Crystal Reports the app uses (there is no longer support available from the developer).  Are there any workarounds at all (I've tried the standards stuff--turning off UAC, run as administrator, etc.)?

thx much in advance ... DMiller

I hope you're technically savvy because this is most likely your problem and your fix.

Thx for the reply ... I had seen that post before.  I don't think that's my issue though because the problem is 100% duplicated on other Windows 7, both 32 and 64-bit, machines.  I'm sure the problem is the fact that the app uses Crystal 10 reports/runtime.  Do you know if it's possible to upgrade the version of Crystal the app uses without changing the app itself?  I can open/save the reports with Crystal XI and they still work correctly under Windows XP.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That would probably be a question best asked of the software vendor but let me ask you this.Have you tried using the Compatibility Wizard that comes with W7 and tell it to act like an older version of windows when running this program?
