hi, i need help figuring this out (formula)
 
If my report has a discharge date then i want the patient informaiton supressed
 
and would i put the  formula in the select expert?

the select expert is used to select (or exclude) rows of data. If you want to exclude a row of data based on your condition then you would use the fomula there.
isnull(table.dischargedate)
 
Otherwise you can suppress fields or sections using the formula but placed in their respective suppression locations
 
your formula for this would be something like:
NOT(isnull(table.dischargedate))
