if you use a running total is there a way to use that running total variable in a formula for grouping, I am developing a report where each report will be generated in 14 day intervals so I want to count the days and if the day is less than 8 set the variable to 1 else set it to 2 then group by the values set.

i do not quite understand your design idea but you cannot use a running total to create a group because the group must exist prior to a RT.
Can you explain a little more what your intention is?
