     Posted: 15 Jun 2010 at 4:24am

I have a report that has some running totals at the end that will calculate the Estimated Number of Hours it will take to run a job as well as the costs involved.  There are similar running totals for Actual Hours and costs.  Both hour totals are listed in a different Footer with the same running total formulas.  My issue is the second set of running totals for the Estimated Numbers are incorrect but accurate for the Actual.  I have verified the running total formulas are similar.

Footer A
                 ------Prod. Hours------
                  Est                 Actual
                  23.51             23.50

Footer B
                             -------Estimate-------           -----------Actual---------
----Hours------
     Setup                        0.00                                      0.00
     Prod                          11.43(should be 23.51)        23.50

The 11.43 represents only part of the total time the job will take.

Are you using Running Totals or Variable Formulas to do sums/counts?
Depending on the answer please describe the RT set up or show the formulas for more help.
Thanks

Running Total.

It is summarizing a field called JobAsmbl.TLEProdHours.

Evaluates on Each Change of Group #3 JobAsmbl.AssemblySeq - A

Resets on Each Change of Group #1 @GrpByProdGroup - A

The only difference between the Estimate and Actual is field being Summarized.  The example above is Estimate while JobAsmbl.TLAProdHours is Actual.

are both totals in a group 1 footer (a or b or whatever)?

Does the first row of data in each group group3 show the correct values in both the JobAsmbl.TLAProdHours and the JobAsmbl.TLEProdHours fields?

Where the totals are accurate for Estimate and Actual,  yes they are in a Group Footer.  However, where the Estimate is incorrect it is in a Report Footer.

Yes, the first row of data is accurate.

Make a Group footer 1 B and place the Estimate on it.
Since it resets on group 1 by placing it in the report footer it was reset on the last group and therefore would be showing incorrect summation (only rows sincethe last group would be included).

Ok, thank you I will try that.

Would there be a way to correct the issue in the same location as well?  This report was created before I came to the company and it is my understanding this report is wanted a certain way.  I guess it just seems strange to me that there is another total using the same basic setup right next to it but it is accurate.

Thank you for all your help!

My guess is that they had the report limited to only showing one item at group level 1 and therefore the # was showing as correct.
There is no way to correct in the group footer if you need to display more than 1 item in group level 1 nor do I know why they would have created it that way to begin with. When you are resetting a value at a group level you need to display it at that group footer level for it to work as intended. If you want to display it in the report footer then you make it as reset=never.

I have tried to set it as reset=never but would still come up with the 11.43 instead of 23.51.

The Running Total (RT) is set to SUM, correct?
Stick the JobAsmbl.TLEProdHours. field in Group Header 3.
Now add up what appears in each group header 3.
What is the amount when you add them up?
