Today.. I am having some trouble.  I have a running total in my report for a max date in a grouping.  I need to have a parameter on this running total which in is my group footer - use then in the select expert.

I am just stumped... any ideas / suggestions?

Unfortunately, you can't base a selection formula on a running total in the report itself.  However, there may be a way to do this using a command if you're familiar with SQL and Crystal will allow a command on your database.

ok Hilfy -
Bring it on...what command are you thinking?   I have been working with Crystal for quite a few years now.. The running total has a condition on it so if the field = (STK-MTL) then the max of another date field - this has been put in the footer section.  So each grouping will give me the lastest date for when they entered this (STK-MTL) transaction.  Works great... but.. now we want to select dates prior to whatever they choose to run the report... paramater.. this is where I am stuck.....  please suggest...

Because a command is a SQL query, a lot is going to depend on the structure of your tables.  My thought is that you use a command, with your date parameter, to pre-calculate the max date.  Include whatever fields you need to be able to link to this command from your other tables to get the value that you need.

It's not necessarily the most efficient way to run a report, but it should work.
