Topic: Crystal / InfoView display discrepancy Posted: 17 Jun 2014 at 6:17am
We have a report that uses a barcode font for printing to labels which we later use for scanning. When printing from Crystal thick client it works perfectly.
The barcode is larger than the space it is printed on. The text field containing the barcode is locked into a single row using the "Lock position and size" setting so as to cut off the bottom half of the barcode, otherwise it would be too large for the labels.
When printing from InfoView it displays the entire barcode, and causes overlap into the label below it even though the bottom half should be hidden. I confirmed the "can grow" option is not checked.
We can't shrink the barcode font size because then it shortens the width and makes it unscannable.
Any suggestions for how to reconcile this so we can print from InfoView?

Which version of BO and Crystal are you using? Has the same barcode font been installed on the report server as you're using in the report? Are you printing to the same printer from both Crystal and BO?

Hi Dell,
Thick client: Crystal XI 11.5.10.1263 InfoView: SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Product: 12.1.0
I don't think the font is installed on the server since when doing "export" to PDF it does not display any barcodes, but I don't think that or the printer settings are the issue, because I can see the barcodes when previewing the document in InfoView before printing. As long as the font is on the workstation it displays. Exporting is the exception and we don't use that method.
Both the thick client and InfoView display the barcodes, but it appears that InfoView is ignoring the "lock position and size" setting that the thick client adheres to, and is displaying the full barcode instead of the top half only. This is discernable in the print previews as well as on the printed labels.
I am in the process of opening a case with SAP since this seems like a bug, but was hoping there might be a workaround.

I can tell you right now that SAP is going to tell you that you need to upgrade both Crystal and BO - the versions that you're using are no longer supported.
Unfortunately, I don't have a work-around for you either.
