Hi all,

Not sure if this is anyone can help me with, but I am running out of ideas.

One of my colleagues is having issues with Crystal. When he is trying to open Crystal, he is getting an error message saying : Loading keycode definition file failed.

I re-installed the program, but it keeps popping up. Is one of the dll's corrupt or something?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Kind regards

Gerben

Hi Dell,

It is Crystal X1 Developer, version 14.0.2.364 RTM, running on Windows 7.

The weird thing is, is that the same software is running on multiple PC's (also mine) with the same OS, without a problem.

Version 14.x is not Crystal XI, it's Crystal 2011 - there are major differences between the two, among them being that 2011 will run on Win7 but XI may not.

This is a known issue that is described in SAP Note 1782825. Here is the info from that note:

Symptom

When opening Crystal Reports, the following error is presented "LoadingKeycode definition file failed".

Environment

SAP Crystal Reports 2011

Cause

In some cases, it has been found that windows system updates have caused the keycode definitions to be unreadable by the application

Resolution

NOTE: If SAP Crystal Reports 2011 is installed on a server machine, it is advised that a backup of the server is taken before completing the following step.

1.Close Crystal Reports and all other SAP BusinessObjects related applications.
2.Open the Control Panel.
3.Double Click the Add and Remove program application.
4.Locate and select Crystal Reports 2011.
5.Run the repair option for Crystal Reports 2011.
6.Relaunch Crystal Reports.

Hi Dell,

Thanks a lot for your help. Originally I tried to repaid Crystal, which didn't work. I uninstalled and re-installed Crystal, which didn't work neither.

The Repair option worked after I logged in as Administrator on the PC instead of the local user.

It is all working in the end, thanks a lot for your help
