IN general I think the culprit is still that the value is not actually 0 so try using the round fuction on your formulas
 
round(field1,2)=0
or
round(field2,2)=0

i used your round formula and i'm still getting just 1 zero. it's weird.

i got it. i had to add logic to include if credit - debit = 0 then "" although one would think the suppress on the field would have handled that.
