Hello everyone,

I'm stuck again.  I have a report that has 2 sub reports.  Each subreport prompts far a value.  SubReport A asks for a 'TopX' value and SubReport B asks for a a 'TopX' value.  I display these parameters in the the subreports page header and that looks nice.  I've been asked to also display those values in the main report.  The way I went about doing that was to copy and paste the paramaters from the sub reports to the main report.  But when doing it this way when the report is run it prompts for the same parameter twice, once for the sub report and once for the main report.  This will be confusing for the user and more error prone.  Is there a way of going about this so that the parameters don't have to get entered twice?

Try this:

1.  Add the parameters to the main report.
2.  For each subreport, right-click and select "Change Subreport Links".
3.  In the top left of the link screen, select the parameter from the main report and move it to "Fields to Link To".
4.  In the bottom right of the link screen, uncheck "Select data in subreport based on field".
5.  In the bottom left of the link screen, drop-down the list of subreport objects and select the parameter that you want to link to.
6.  Save and repeat for the other subreport.

This will have the main report supply the values for the subreport parameters and should cause the parameter screen to only show them once.

That didn't work, I still have repeated parm prompts.  Maybe it didn't work becuase the sub reports aren't linked to the main report.

Following these steps would link them to the main report based on the parameter.
