I'm relatively new to Crystal reports and was wondering if there is a way to filter non-table parameters depending on a selection of a choice made previously.

So, if I'm running a report on financial data, I'd like to choose either by Fiscal Period (e.g. 2013-11 = Jan 2013) or by Date. The first selection is to choose how the report should be filtered so the parameter value can be either P or D.

If this selection is D then only the date parameter should be displayed and vice versa.

Any pointers?

Unfortunately, there is no way to do this using just Crystal itself.

How will you be delivering your reports to the users?

What do the shorcuts point to?  Just Crystal Viewer?  Some application that you've created for running reports?  Something else?

I'm not too sure about the mechanics but part of the Application install is a Crystal Viewer. Thereafter it's a matter of poiting the desktop shortcut to the .RPT file.

There is no way to do this using just Crystal Viewer because the Crystal parameter screen doesn't handle this type of requirement.

It is possible to do this if reports are being run via an application written with the SDK.  The application would include code for entering the parameters and would handle all of the optional logic.  Then it would pass the parameters into the report before opening it.  But you would have to write this type of program specific to your reports.
