Hi, I have some data that i want to conditonally display on one line. The data can be found below. I would like to get BC_SEQ  000500, 000501 and 000502 on one line, since they represent one set of instructions. It seems like the data only allows for a certain number of characters before it moves the data to another row. Can anyone help me with this.
Thank You!

BC_SEQ EXTRA_DESC
*000200* 1. CHANGE FILTER ELEMENTS.
*000300* 2. INSPECT BELT FOR CRACKS.
*000400* 3. INSPECT BELT FOR FRAYING
*000500* 4. INSPECT CONDENSER FAN TO
*000501* MAKE SURE ITS WORKING AND
*000502* CORRECT AIR FLOW DIRECTION
Thank You,
Antonio

are you familiar with shared variables?

if the instructions generally format 0005##, would create a formula with

left(BC_SEQ, 4)

group by this formula
...

create another formula

shared stringvar extradesc:='';

this goes in group header

-----

another formula

-----
in details

shared stringvar extradesc:=extradesc;
if left(BC_SEQ,4) = formula used for grouping first four variables then

extradesc:=extradesc+' ' + {EXTRA_DESC};

----

in group footer

shared stringvar extradesc:=extradesc;
extradesc

---

This may work, I am still in vacation mode first.

you don't need the assignment in the group footer, just:
shared stringvar extradesc;
extradesc

otherwise looks fine to me...
and if you use this all time, then it obviously doesn't hurt.

I noticed that and was curious if I should change it, leave it to Lock to find my mistake, or Kev :)

Actually thanks, I wasn't aware you didnt need to redefine.
