Quote jsharp Replybullet Topic: Query information not in the current recordset...

I have a detail section that shows information about a order.  One of the fields it shows tells me what 'quote number' was used to create that order.  I need to query the same table to retrieve a value from another record in that table.

example

site.............detail...........quote used.....quote amt.....order amt.
Columbus...bla_bla_bla..quote123........???...............$100.00

for the quote amt I want to re-query the table like this

select [quote amt] from [table] where [document id] = quote used

is there a way to do this without building a sub-report and embedding that into the detail section?

Yes.  You can add a table to a report more than once.  If you add a table that is already in the report, Crystal will put up a warning and ask if you want to "alias" the table.  At that point it will bring it in to the report with "_1" after the table name.  This table would be your quote table (you can rename the alias to make it more meaningful).  Link from the quote ID to the document ID in this aliased version of the table to get the quote information.

OMG!... That is the cat's meow...  I had no idea you could do that.. lmao.
Thank you so much... this makes life much easier!

I may even go back and simplify some of my older reports with this.
