We are using a command for a report, an SQL query, we are wanting to limit the query results by the county parameter field since the table has 19 million records. We imported a text file that has all the counties listed in the regular report parameter builder. How can we now connect the report parameter to a command parameter so that we limit the data set coming back from the database?

From what I looked at, there is no way to import a text file into the command parameter builder box? Is there a way to dynamically import the list from a table in the command parameter builder box? If so, we have to do a distinct on the table as to not bring back duplicate counties?

I believe that there is a way to use an Excel file as a data source for the command object, but I have never done it.

I would think that would be a way to cascade the county list so that not all counties are displayed (not to metion that most people can't display more than about 500 values in the parameter list...which is probably too many for the user to search through as it is).  You can use disinct in the selection process to remove duplication as well in the report display (supress if duplicate).

It's a tough one regardless due to the size/variation of the list (I presuming).
