Desc 2     1001     Analist 2     06/08/2012 02:29:11p.m.     2
Desc 3     1001     Analist 3     06/08/2012 02:29:11p.m.     2
Desc 4     1001     Analist 4     06/08/2012 02:29:11p.m.     3

based on the data you have shown I do not see a way to group on it. You can mimic a group by inserting a detail a that is conditionally suppressed using the next() or previous() functions

Hi, jfrageme02.

First, this is in addtion to what DBlank already posted.  I just wanted to let you know that the way you want grouping to work is not the purpose of grouping.  Grouping is inherently grouping all like items in the selected field.  However, you can use a formula to create a custom grouping field to combine multiple fields to help group on multiple "fields" at the same time rather than 1 field and then another.  I have created a sample table without grouping, then grouped with a single field, and then grouped with a custom grouping field, so you can see the result of doing so. (I used some of your data as a basis.)

Second, why do you need to keep the analyst group in order of their appearance?  I'm confused by that requirement.  It negates the benefit of having grouping at all.

TABLE WITH NO GROUPING

DESC     DEPT     ANALYST     GROUP     LOCATION
Desc1     1001           1                  1                 NE
Desc2     1001           1                  2                 SE
Desc3     1001           1                  3                 SW

TABLE GROUPED BY "@CustomGroup"
1. Create a custom grouping field called "@CustomGroup" using "GROUP" & "LOCATION"
2. Used the new field as my group field
3. Then used a custom group name to change the group name to be more meaningful.

Thanks for the fast reply,

Maybe with the next image you can have a more clear idea what I want to do:

Sorry for the confusion, with "appearance" I refer the way that they are printed or listed in the report.

The time elapsed is the time that took from one group (Group A), to work in that problem. If then come another group (Group B) and work in that problem then the time that took it in the problem will be listed, and if then the Group A work again in that problem the new time elapsed will be print. But the record are printed as you describe in "TABLE WITH NO GROUPING", so when a want to group by "analyst group" all records are grouped in the same group so the sequence is lost.

And last Analyst is a member of a group.

But maybe with the custom group, as you say, gives me some ideas.

Thanks,
