I have 8 subreports in one main report. i have matched the parameters of the sub reports so they all work fine. however 2 of the parameters have yhe same information in them. what i would like is a way to say to suppress the option of parametrr2 because parameter1 is the criteria, does that make sense? I have tried changing the names and reselecting them from the "change subreport links" box but that doesnt work. any ideas please?

Hi

I didn't get your requirement.

Is the two parameters created in main report or one created in main report and other created in sub report?

If the parameters are created in main report and sub report then you need to link those parameters. if you link those parameters then it will apply only one selection criteria.

if you want  to link the paramters then you need to right click on the sub report and select 'Change sub report links' option--> select main report parameter and sub report parameter in the required fields.

Otherwise if the two parameters are created in Main report then you need to delete the second parameter.

Regards,
Naga.

Hi

Check the datatype of the parameters.  If you want to link two parameters through change sub report links, both should be of same datatype.

Thanks,

Hi. the main parameters are linked to the subreport ones fine. boyh parameters are the same but apply to different subreports. i have tried linking one main parameter to both subreports but when doing the change links on subreport am only offered th "default?pm" one, not the one i havd created. i was really looking to just enter the criteria on one parameter nd have the other one (for the other report) just use that data. you know how in vba you would use parameter1.value =parameter2.value? Or something like that?

does this help?

Thanks , paul

Hi Paul,

What i understood here is that your main report parameter is linked with default generated sub report parameter.

However if you would like to pass the main report parameter value to both sub reports then you need to link the main report parameter value with your sub report created parameter and not with default generated parameter values.

Regards,
Naga.
