I'm looking to display the record selection on a report. The report does not filter the report.. the report is uploaded to a third party software and we can apply filters in there. People have the ability to choose these filters as they run the report.
When I select record selection field and add it to the report it will display the filter but it always list the database fields in the report. I only want to display the filter.

record selection now >>>{XXX_project_name}= Project Name Here
I want >>>  Project Name Here

And if there are multiple project will it display all of them??

Hi

How the users will select project Name ?  Is it through Parameter / Prompt ?

If so, use the following :

Join({?Parameter},',')

Place this in your report and apply can grow option to display all projects.

Thanks,
Sastry

Its not throught a parameter. A third party software where we upload the report does the filter. The user has the ability to filter the report by the fields we give them. For example here Project Name. So when the user selected the filter it will display that selection or selections.

First we need to understand how your third party tool is filtring the report.  If we can catch that, yes we can suggest you something.
Thanks,

Once is the report is uploaded it see all the datafields in the report. We then have the ability to add queries to the uploaded report so the user can filter the report. It doesnt pop any windows asking for parameters. They open the link where the report is located and from there they can filter the report.

Hi

what is the third party tool you were using?

if you have BO server then you can use open document concept to filter the values at run time, when the user click on that link.

Regards,
Naga.

Its inside a Project Management Software tool it uses Oracle as the DB. If I use record selection from special fields this is what I get...

{xxx__xxx_REPORT_DV.xxx_PROJECT_ITS_DEPT_NAME} = 'Asset Management'

I only want the last portion.
