Hi there. i am looking for some advice pls. i am using crystal9 and have 8 reports that i have to run, each with the same parameters. it would be way quicker if i could update only 1 set of parameters to run them all so i am trying to set up an umbrella style report to house each of the individual reports, but my set parameters userform is just listing each parameter for each report. can anyone help pls?

Also, do i need to attach a database to the umbrella one as a starting point? Thanks. paul

In the main report you will need to create parameters that match the type in the subreports.

Then link these to the subreports...

1. right mouse click on each subreport, select change sub report links

2. select the newly created parameters on the left and move to the right

3. on the right side select the first parameter

4. below the left list, there is a comboBox subreport parameter field to use, from this list select the corresponding parameter, repeat for all parameters and subreports

Hope this solves your issue?

Hi

As you said you have 8 reports and need to run with same parameter values. To previent re-entry of parameters you can insert all reports in one report.

Create a blank report with parameters (if these are static then no database connection or selection is require; if these paramters are dynamic then you should have database connectivity)

Insert multipul Report Footer sections and suppress rest of the sections

Insert each report in report footer

Now right click on each sub report and go in Change Subreport Links and link main report parameters to sub report parameters.

Now Execute your main report this will take parameter values once and will pass it to your sub reports.

Thanks,
Sastry

Thanks for this. i am now faced with all of the parameters on the refresh userform. I guess i need to wnter something in the select expert to limit the choices?
The parameters i am using are @period, @centre, @visitors and @type.

Thanks for your help.

Hi

If you see the same parameters multipul times in your refresh pane, it means, there linking of sub reports to main report parameter is not proper.

Check the links once again in 'Change Sub Report Links; option.

Thanks,

The parameters need to be defined in the subreports first.  Then you need to link the parameters from the main report directly to the corresponding parameter in the subreport - not to the default "PM-" parameter that is created by the link.
