Hi,

I have a report with 2 groups:

1) Group 1
2) Group 2 xxx
      aaaa (detail)
      bbbb (detail)

2) Group 2 yyyy
      cccc (detail)
      dddd (detail)
      eeeee(detail)

2) Group 2 zzzz    page 1

      ffff (detail)   page 2

How do I make Group 2 go to page 2 instead showing at the bottom of page 1?

Under the group options, check 'Keep Group Together'. That should start a new page if the group is not short enough to fit completely on the current page.

open the group expert
click on group level 2 and then options
go to options tab
mark 'Keep group Together' as True

if details row count under that group expands beyond the size of 1 page it will not page break. Is this the case in your data set?

For clarity, this is not the "keep together" in the section expert, but rather in the group expert. That is where you made the change, correct?

Also do you just want it to not orphan the group header without showing at least 1 detail row or do you really want it to 'keep togther' for the whole group?

Right click on GH1 (Group Header 1) and select Section Expert. Click "New Page After".

However I suspect this is not what you want. Page 1 will be mostly empty with only GH1 displayed.. Also, you will get a page break each time GH1 changes value.

here is a trcik to make sure you have at least one detail row to show with a group header (avoid orpahaned Gheaders at the botom of a page) ...

add a GHa that has nothing in it
make the height of GHa the height of GHb + one detail row (or more if you want)
in the section expert set GHa to 'keep togther' as true and 'underlay following sections' as true
your group header data should all be in group header b
