I need help creating a dynamic pick list. My learning systems database has hundreds of course codes, and i want to create a report for my users that would allow them to enter a course type (e.g. 'sales') and see a list all of the course codes with that course type. i am using CR XI. Any assistance, or direction to documentation that covers this, would be appreciated.

look at dynamic parameters. they build a list of values (lov) from your data set. The paramters can then be used in the select expert to limit the data set in the report.

the Help fiels are not bad for this but basically

set your data source for the report (your tables or view or whatever)
go the the fierld explorer
right click on the parameter fields
select new
add a new parameter called "course type" (or whatever)
make it a string type
click on dynamic togge
click on the value column and select the field that points to the 'types'
add a desctription if you want
click on the Paramters colum to add the param.
if you need multiple values change that value in the options box in the bottom to true
in the select expert use the statment
{table.typefield} = {?course type}

thanks. this at least gives me a jumping off point. i'm a complete novice, and have no help resource close by. the vendor that hosts our data has turned off the online help in the CR XI application. thanks again.
