Good Day,

I need to be able to keep a history of records that have been previously displayed so that the next time I process the crystal report they are not displayed again.

I can do this by manually adding the records to a seperate table and excluding those records.  This is time consuming and I am hoping there is a more efficient method.   Is there a way in crystal reports for the report to populate a table automatically?

Thank you,

Trino

Not directly.  Crystal Reports is designed as a read-only tool.

if there is a difference between the records
you could create an ID# of some sort like
table.firstname + table.lastname + table.dateofbirth
then just remove records with same ID#

I don't understand what you mean.   Here is an illustration of what I need to happen.  Thanks for taking a look at this and offering suggestions.

1st time processing the report

record 1
record 3
record 9
record 20

2nd time processing the report records 1,3,9,20 need to be exlcuded.

record 2
record 5
record 8
record 10

3rd time processing the report records 1,3,9,20,2,5,8,10 need to be exlcuded.

And so on....

i cant think of any non manual way.
the way i would do it
first create a parameter(records to exclude)
set allow multiple values to true
in selection expert put

table.record <> parameter(records to exclude)

then create a text file records to exclude
(after ran the report put record numbers into that text file)
then in parameter  under valued fields click on Actions select import
then choose that text file
then just edit that file every run.

At least one of the Crystal Reports UFLs (User Function Libraries) listed at http://kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html allows you to create Crystal formulas that update a database table or write to an ini file. So that would be one type of solution.

If your process includes exporting, printing, or emailing, at least one of the 3rd-party Crystal Reports Schedulers (also listed at the link above) has built-in functionality to skip records that were already processed.

view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.
