Hi,

Suppose I have a report all set up.  Then the data has moved to a different server/database.  Now I need my report to connect to this new data source, which contains all or most of the same fields.

Is there a smooth way to make this transition in Crystal Reports XI without having to put the new fields on, update the filters and groups?

Responses are greatly appreciated.

In the Field Explorer right-click Database Fields and select Set Datasource Location. Make the connection in the Replace With: section. Then, single-click the table in the Replace With: section (to make sure it is highlighted) and single-click the table in the Current Data Source: section that you want that field to replace (be sure both tables are highlighted). Now click Update. Continue this process for all tables you wish to replace.

Click Close and you may be prompted to map fields that are different between the tables. I believe Crystal automatically maps any fields that have the same field name, but if the field name is a bit different or completely different, this is a good opportunity to map those fields to each other.
