Is there any way to suppress records based on how many total number of pages the record goes over?

I am looking to print some statements using different paper for 1st and 2nd page.  This means I need to separate those 1-pagers from those whose statements go over more than 1 page.  Is there any way to do this?  Even if it were possible for me to select to print only each 1st page, then only each second page, etc., that would help me.

Has anyone had this problem before?  Thanks.

slightly confused by the post....
If you are suppressing based on page number then i changes subsequent page numbers and throughs your calcuations off thereafter...
Can you split it into 2 reports based on reocrds counts in each group?

Perhaps suppressing is the wrong way to do it.  How about selecting only those groups that go 2 pages or more?  If I could do that, then I could print those separately, and then select only those that are 1 page to print separately.

You are right it would throw off subsequent pages to suppress individual pages.

I cannot split into 2 reports because the groups split over pages...

can you easily define a 1 page group vs. 2 page based on the record count in that group or are there sections that grow that make that inconsistent?

The sections that grow are exactly what make it inconsistent, yes.  It is a giving statement, like so:

John Doe

Gift 1 .....
Gift 2 .....

Some of these have too many to fit on 1 page, hence, they split over 2 or more pages.

Thanks.

If gift1 and gift 2 are on seperate detail secitons and the growing is based on more detail sections added you could do it on a count.
If the ... on gift 1 means that the gift 1 row might grow because the ... makes it expand that ismore of an issue.

Perhaps there is another type of solution. Why do you need different paper?Because you want different letter head or images based on the page?

It is all in the same detail section.  I.E. one person has made 1 gift, another person has made 18 gifts.  The one with 18 is going to grow and split over 2 pages.

Different paper is needed because we want to print the first page on letterhead with company logo at the top, but any more pages to be plain bond paper without the logo.  I would like to just insert the logo to the report itself and print all on blank bond paper, which would solve the problem as the logo would be on group header.  However, with the number to print all involved would prefer as a whole to print on already existing letterhead.

Here is the throw-together solution I found basically:
I have a data item for each person that tells me his or her's total # of gifts.  I selected based on high numbers and just sifted through them to see which ones split over more than one page.  There are only 20 or 30 of these so I don't think in this case it will be too much of a problem.

Thanks for your help on this.

Sounds like you have a solution. If not, post for more help if you need it. Good luck!
