Hi,

I'm trying to build a report that has multiple textboxes or subreports(whichever will work) in the same detail section.

The issue is that there are some that are one above the other and also some side by side.  Also, they need to grow dynamically and not overlap or overlay the one below it.

the issue that i'm having is if the 1st subreport grows, it overlaps the one underneath it.  I know that creating a seperate detail section would work, but because i also have subreports to the right, i don't want those to push down either.  I wanted them to work independantly of each other.

Let me know if someone knows how to do this.

Thanks
Scott

I can't quite visualize why you cannot use different sections but perhaps you might want to try multi columns as a different solution?

Let's say i have 4 subreports in the details section.  Subreport1 is above Subreport2 and subreport3 is above Subreport4.  Also, Subreport 3 and 4 are to the Right of Subreport 1 and 2:

Subreport1     Subreport3

Subreport2     Subreport4

If the Data in Subreport1 grows, it will overlay or overlap Subreport2.  I don't want it to overlap, i want it to push down Subreport2.

the only way around this is to create another Detail Section and put Subreport2 and Subreport4 in it.  However, If Subreport1 grows, it pushes down both Subreport2 and Subreport4 in the next detail section.  What i want is only Subreport2 to get pushed down and not Subreport4.  I basically want them to grow independently of each other and not overlap while staying in the same details section.

Does that help?

Your description leads me to believe that sub report 1 and 3 are not related. What you are describing is usually done via multiple columns in the detail section. I would try that and see if you can get to what you want through that.
