hi i'm trying to sum up a field which is construct from (LogOut_Time - LogIn_Time) as @TotalOnline_Time(in text format)...how should i construct my formula?

when i Sum ({@TotalOnline_Time}) i got an error "A number field or currency amount field is require here"

probably because you cant SUM a text field.

Why do you need it in text format?
 
You could always, do a formula:
@totaltime
(LOGOUT_TIME - LOGIN_TIME)
 
then, SUM this field in the report, then write another formula:
 
@totaltimetext
totext(sum ({@totaltime}, {Table_user}))
 
 
obviously replace the TABLE_USER with what ever group you are summarizing.
