Good Day,

I am trying to determine what would be the best design for a report that looks for possible duplicate client records in our database.  I can find matches on fields with a subreport; however, I am not sure how to accomplish finding possible matches on DOB, SSN, and Name.   If anyone can provide some direction on how to best accomplish this please let me know.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

You could sort by SSN.

Then create a formula that would highlight the row if it has the same SSN as the next row.

Go to the section expert, then the section your data is in(preferably the details section). Click on the color tab. Click the little x2 button. Use the formula below.

If Next({SSN}) = {SSN} Then crGreen

Thank you.  I can find matches; however, what i am looking for is possible matches on multiple fields.    What I was thinking was a subport for each field.  In the main report I was thinking i would need to suppress clients that don't have any possible duplicates based on the subreports. Any ideas on the best approach for that?

I think if you tell us what you would consider possible duplicates someone can help you with a process.

Occasionally user will miskey one or two values in an SSN or DOB, or the client just reports an different name or does not provide an SSN. Here is an example of three clients that have possible matches.

Client A - SSN: 123456789 DOB: 10-1-2011 Name: Chris Doe
Client B - SSN: 123466789 DOB: 10-2-2010 Name: John Smith
Cleint C - SSN: 000000000 DOB: 10-1-2010 Name: Kris Doe

Client A, and B are possible matches because of the SSN and DOB.  Cleint A and C are possible matches because of DOB and Last Name.

Does this help? Thank you so much for your time. It is greatly appreciated.
