Dear all,

I'm using in a Sub report the following formula:

{inv_hdr.inv-num} = Previous ({inv_hdr.inv-num})

However this formula is working only for the first records (rows) where double records are retrieved.

Does any one know how come the formula is not working for the complete report and only for some records?

Thank you for any advice,

Kind Regards,
Carlos

im not sure, as you are very vague with your details.

but first glance, It appears your formula is saying:

invoice number matches previous invoice number.

so, surely it would only return matching invoice numbers?

ALSO, im a newbie, so dont assume my comments have any value to them.

just tryign to be helpful. may be better if you explain your situtation more and what you are trying to achieve.

Robotacha, indeed I should be clearer on this,

Will try to explain; I want to delete from the sub rpt the double records.

I had tried several things like 'suppress if duplicated', Group by {inv_hdr.inv-num} then suppress with formula previous, suppress on different levels and change the linkage on to the main rpt.

Searching on the web i found out that the formula previous should help on this and it does but not for the complete rpt only for the first records.

So, the main question should be who to delete the double records from this sub-report and or if the formula is OK why is this not deleting the double records from the complete rpt?

Thank you again for the advice,

if this is just a matter of displaying (in the subreport) then group on the {inv_hdr.inv-num} and suppress all the details and the group footer

DBlank,

Indeed it is a matter of displaying. I did the steps you mention already but didn't work, however I did it again (you never know!) but the same, still I can see two identical inv-numbers :-) pffff seams to be the end of the tunnel

Thank you,

for clarity, are you getting duplicates inside one subreport that is then displayed in the main report, or are your duplciated in the main report that are running duplicate sub reports?

I hope to have understood your questions:

I have only one sub report and this displayed duplicate data in the main rpt.

so your sub report is set up as  this:
GH (inv-num)
detail - suppressed
GF suppressed

And youa re getting duplicates?
This does not seem feasible...

again for clarity sake
in the sub report
in the section expert
1. in the GH you have set both "Hide(drill down OK)" and "Supress (no Drill down)" to FALSE (unchecked) with no formulas entered ( the x-2 box is blue).
2. the detail is set to "Supress (no Drill Down)" as TRUE with no formulas entered ( the x-2 box is blue)
3. The GF is set to "Supress (no Drill Down)" as TRUE with no formulas entered ( the x-2 box is blue)
