Hello,

Newbie here, taking over an existing CR XI report and trying to tweak it.

Our report uses data generated from our Raiser's Edge fundraising database. The information being exported from Raiser's Edge relates to donors and how much they have given to my organization.

The purpose of the report is to group related donors (such as spouses) together to show the total amount given from each of these groups.

A sub report within the CR XI report itself details how much each individual donor within the group has given. In some cases, a spouse may not have given to us, but we want that spouse's name to appear on the report with a $0.00 figure beside his/her name to indicate that the records are related and have been linked in our fundraising database. Then, should that individual make a gift in the future, the amount will automatically appear on the report.

My issue is that individuals who have not made a gift are not appearing on the report. I have browsed the field data for all of the fields in the sub report and can confirm that the data is there.

The "suppress if zero" box is NOT ticked in the format editor of the field which holds the $ value.

Any ideas?

it is probably due to your sub report links.
in the sub report
go to file
report options
check null value boxes to pull in the null records
do the same with the main report

if there is an inner join between the tables...say the donors and their gifts, a donor who has not made a gift will never appear.  In this case, you would want to change the join (link type) to outer.  Right clicking on the link in the database expert will give you different link options...you will probably have to play as I don't know how to tell if the link is right outer or left outer (I know it in sql just not CR)

Sharona,

Thanks for the suggestions.

Sharona, I've tried clicking Convert Database NULL values to default on both, clicking Convert other NULL values to default, and clicking both. No luck.

HTH, I've opened the Access database and checked the Relationships menu and clicked on show relationships. There are no relationships between the tables to change as you suggest.

I'm stumped!

do you have a date range in your select statement in the sr (or main report that is impacting the sr)?

select statements can make outer joins into inner joins.
for example if a spouse gave a gift last FY but not this FY and your are filtering to show gifts for this FY, the spouse will be excluded regardless of how you join the tables.

DBlank,

Nope, no date ranges.

so the main report has the donor
you are placing the sr in the main report to run once per donor
you are using the donor as the sr link
in the sr you are using 2 tables, the donor relations and the donor relations donations.
in the sr you are grouping on the relation (field from the relation table not the donation table)
In the sr you have an outer join from the relation table to the donoation table
you have no select statement filter on the sr

Is this all correct?

Unfortunately I know so little about databases that I can't confidently answer those questions. I was hoping it would be something simple like a box that needed to be ticked, but it seems like it isn't.

I have helped a co-worker on Raisers Edge a few times so I am vaguely familiar with the structure and I think what I posted is close to what you will need but delve into it a bit more and see if this is accurate.
I know there are a number of child tables from the main donor table and it is easy to get tripped up on the joins.
also check the sr section expert to make sure there are no conditional suppressions on rows there.

Thanks. Could you explain the "sr" acronym for me? I'm not sure what that means. I really am that unfamiliar with databases and CR.
