Our application connects to crystal reports via a pre defined user. The option you suggested gets this user.
What we need is the actual user id logged into the application.

Thanks

As an example, this is what we are looking for

Say user A has access to record XYZ and ABC while user B has access ABC only .When users want to view reports , then A should have XYZ and ABC while B should have ABC only.

At least one of the UFLs (User Function Libraries) listed at http://kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html provides a function for returning the Windows user id.
view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.
