CR2008
database in an Excel 2000 table

I'm trying to enable users to search for a word within the SpareParts_.Spare Part field
{SpareParts_.Spare Part} like "*" & {?Description} & "*"

even a directly entered search criteria ({SpareParts_.Spare Part} like "*model*"), without the use of a varible, gave me the same error.

Database Connector Error: ‘Error Code: 0x800a0bff

Source: DAO.Recordset

Description:  This expression is typed incorrectly or is too complex to be evaluated.  For example, a numeric expression may contain to many complicated elements.  Try simplifying the expression by assigning parts of the expression to variables.
