just sharing info:

I'm using CR XI.

some of reports in my office are using a Stored Procedure in SQL.
and some of them are using params using XML format.

in this case my SP have a part to read each params within XML.
and in my CR i have a function to read the XML format.
and it work fine till now.

to run in SQL i'm using:
exec thirdparty_mySP '<Root><Parameters From="01/01/2011" To="04/30/2011" ></Parameters></Root>'

to test in CR i'm using:
'<Root><Parameters From='01/01/2010' To='12/31/2010' ></Parameters></Root>'
as in 'Default value' in the Parameter.

hope it can help.

Crystal can call a sql Stored Procedure.
Crystal would read the parameters needed from the sql Proc and prompt you for them.

Why would you want to use SQL Expressions?
