Is there a way to have a number field always print as a barcode on a report? I am using Crystal XI.

Yes.
 
Depending on what barcode font you want to use--download it, and register it in the Syste32 fonts folder on your PC.
 
You should then be able to see the font, and use it. Note, producing different types of barcode is harder.. such as DataMatrix.
 
I'm starting a blog, where I'll be posting solutions to this type of reporting.
