We have a 2 part form which is printed on regular letter sized paper (orientation - portrait) which the top half is the same as the bottom half.

What we need to do is to limit the amount of details lines and if those detail lines goes over 6 lines, have the remaining lines go to another page.

The layout for one page is:

Header

Detail

Footer

Header

Detail

Footer

you can create a record count formula
whileprintingrecords;
numbervar x:= x+1;

it should display a count next to each record
go to the section expert
in the new page after check the formula box
enter
if recordcount>=7 then true
it should only allow you to produce 6 records per page

if you place the footer info in the page footer it should be on all pages.
what do you want in the footer?

Another way to force crystal to print only 6 records on each is to use the following conditional formula for a "new page after" command in the details section:

recordnumber / 6 = 0

Each record that crystal prints out has a recordnumber associated with it, in the order that they are printed.

You may want this to appear in the very last detail section (more info below). Not sure if this will work in the page footer.

which the top half is the same as the bottom half.

Do you mean, the same 6 records? Ie: everything is identical.

I don't know what your headers and footers are like, but if they should appear for every record, then you can do the following:

1: open section expert
2: click on the Details section
3: click Insert to add an extra detail section. Repeat this until you have 7 detail sections.
4: Move the existing fields you already have into the corresponding detail (D) sections

header1 into Da
details1 into Db
footer1 into Dc

5: Make Dd larger if you would like to separate top from the bottom.

6: Create copies of the above and move them into De, Df, and Dg.

Now the header, details, and footer will appear twice on each page, for every page in your report.
