Hi,

We want to upgrade our crystal reports to latest possible version.
Also we want to upgrade our existing crystal reports server. Can anybody know the procedures for doing this ?

We are using the below configuration now.

Crystal reports version 10
Operating system of server-Windows 2000 SP 4
Model- VM ware virtual platform
OS architecture-32 bit
CPU- Dual 2.67 Ghz Intel Xenon (R)  X550@
Memory 4GB

While upgrading the server we want to make sure that it supports "Business Objects" as well.

Please advice with latest possible version of CR and Server configurations required for this and also  how to do the upgrade?
Thanks in Advance

Nikhil

Crystal Server (CRS) and BusinessObjects (BO) are two separate software packages that have been built on the same foundation of code.   CRS will only work with Crystal reports and BO will work with other report "types" that are included in the package (Web Intelligence, etc.)  BO is significantly more expensive than CRS, even if you were to go with the trimmed-down BO Edge version.

The latest version of both Crystal Reports and Crystal Server is 2008.

The current server specs will work with the new version, although I would recommend upgrading the operating system to at least Windows Server 2003.  If you decide to upgrade to a 64-bit processor, be aware that neither CRS nor BO come in a 64-bit version and you will have to have the 32-bit version of the database client software installed in order for either to work.

I would install the new software on a new server and then migrate the reports over from the old server.  You don't have to upgrade the reports themselves as part of this - CRS 2008 will run reports that were created in CR 10 - so you can do all new development in CR 2008 and upgrade the existing reports as they need changes.
