i'hv designd a report,where from aspx page i m sending one parameter that is sorting criteria, like' for -by name sending 1 and for by number sending 2." from main report catching the value,upto it is ok , now for the sub report where sorting 'll occure there value is not passing from main report..Now i have tried using parameter field.how can i use the parameter field in sub report for sorting.
 
if the value is 1 then sorting 'll be by name.
if the value is 2 then sorting 'll be by number.
plez help me..

Have you set a shared variable to use to pass the parameter between the main report and subreport. If not and you need help, you can find it in the CR Help file by searching  'variables scope' and select whether you want Basic or Crystal syntax.

Value is passing from main report to subreport...Problem is using the parameter value I 've to sort,but sorting criteria is not same format, one is string, and another is number..plez help..

I am not sure I fully understand, but you should be able to use a formula to convert the data type from string to number or number to string. Then use that formula instead of the parameter.

thanks jkwrpc... i'v solved dat problem...now i doing the sorting in main page. not sub report...so need of paramtr....
